This dish is a staple at almost every weekend braai across South Africa due to its simplicity and comforting taste.
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Layer the potato slices in a greased baking dish.
In a bowl, mix the cream and onion soup powder together.
Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes.
Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden.
